I'm a fan of recycling everything I can. So when we decided to turn our garage into a workshop, we were left with two perfectly good garage doors. I contemplated bringing them to the recycle center but instead they were left on the side of the building until one day, inspiration struck.
After deciding to keep them for the purpose of using them as raised beds, the fun began. That meant figuring out a way of attaching them to posts. I admit this was a challenge because I did not want to cut them or remove any of the metal braces. Because I used pressure treated wood, I covered parts with heavy duty plastic sheeting.
The end product was 4 raised beds measuring 9' x 4' and about 21" high.
They still need some finishing touches that will come once we pick their permanent home. They are a bit heavy when all the wood has been assembled.
Stay tuned for the final product. I'm currently working on measuring and cutting the top frame as well as designing the vegetable garden layout.
